Xbox Live dropped for original Xbox

As planned, the Xbox Live service has been turned off for the original Xbox console, Microsoft announced today.

The service, which has been up since November 2002, enabled online gameplay among Xbox consoles.

Xbox Live is, of course, still available for the current Xbox 360 console.
