The release of the Xbox 360 Elite in the UK, along with a recent price cut, have helped boost UK sales by over 260% from one week to the next, according to UK firm Chart-Track.
After a second week, Xbox 360 sales dipped only 20% from the new peak.
Meanwhile, Sony's PSP suffered its worst week on record, largely due to anticipation of a newer model, the PSP Slim & Lite. The new PSP will be 33% lighter than the original and feature a number of hardware improvements, leading consumers to wait until the September 14 release to purchase a new one.
