INTV System III

INTV System III

Release: October, 1995
aka: Super Pro System

Mattel wanted to build a more powerful version of their Intellivision and in 1982, they announced the Intellivison III. The system would be designed to have better graphics than the Coleco-Vision, would play Intellivision games and would have a built-in IntelliVoice. Mattel, however, was never able to complete the project on time for release.

In March, 1984 the Intellivison rights were sold for 16.5 million US dollars to an investment group, later renamed to INTV. In October of the following year, the INTV System III was released, a repackaging of the Intellivison design in a black case with a few upgrades. Also several Intellivison titles were re-released.

In 1987 an INTV System IV was announced, but the company instead continued the System III until 1990. A total of three million consoles had been sold.
