In 1983, Coleco, creators of the famed Colecovision, entered the home computer industry. The computer featured a few games as well as other programs.
The Adam was presented in two forms. The first was a Colecovision expansion module. A computerlike system that attatched to the Colecovision. The second was a stand-alone computer. Both featured the same technology, but the expansion module grabbed the interest of Colecovision owners. At an incredibly low price, the Coleco Adam was expected to be big.
Not everything went as planed, though. The Adam was full of bugs, so the release date was pushed back. The Adam didn't recieve good reviews either. It was never big on the market, and was discontinued January, 1985. Coleco left electronics and pursued their new product in toys, the Cabbage Patch Kids.
