After the Nintendo Game Boy had been around for 9 years and over 60 million Game Boy units had been sold, Nintendo finally decided to remake the system. In November 1998, the Nintendo Game Boy Color was released.
The Game Boy and Game Boy Color have the same processor, but the Color's is customized to run twice as fast. The colour screen is very energy efficient, so batteries aren't used as quickly as with past colour systems. The screen is still not backlit, but is more reflecitve.
Some games can be played on either the Game Boy or Game Boy Color. Some can only be played on the Color. All original Game Boy titles can be played on the Game Boy Color.
