Sega Pico

Sega Pico

Release: 1994

With Sega's release of its Pico system, the gaming market expanded to allow a younger audience. The Sega Pico, which resembled a laptop computer, doesn't feature its own screen and must be attatched to a TV. The drawing pad and "magic pen" are used to interact with the images on the screen. Computer keyboard-like arrow keys are also used to control movement.

The software for the Pico is designed to be both fun and educational. Cartoon characters and Muppets were the stars of Pico games.
