Release: 1982
In 1981, General Consumer Electronics began working on a homesystem that would be unlike the others. In October 1982, GCE was bought by Milton Bradley, and a month later they released the Vectrex.
The Vectrex features a 9 × 11 inch built-in screen and came with one analog controller. The Vectrex, unlike other systems, uses vector line graphics (as opposed to pixel graphics, used by most systems). This type of graphics was seen in arcade hits such as Asteroids, Tempest and Space Wars. The Vectrex sports a built-in Asteroids clone, Minestorm. The game screen was monochromatic, so the arcade-like plastic casing was made to cut glare, and give an illusion of colour.
Production of the Vectrex was cut in the industry crash of 1984.
Used with the games Art Master, Animaction and Melody Master.
This pair of goggles consists of a colour disc which spins between the eyes and displays the vectors on the system in colour, forming various three dimensional shapes.
