The 32-bit Virtual Boy was an attempt by Nintendo to create a new category of 3D gaming.
The Virtual Boy is not virtual reality. The user simply stares forwards watching the red display while using the controller. Nintendo's Virtual Boy is not to be used by anyone under 7 years of age, or for more than half an hour at a time. The Virtual Boy's monochromatic red display is not easy on the eyes.
The Virtual Boy didn't sell too well. In fact, it made its way into being Nintendo's first officially admitted mistake.
